Assumption

木彫りのゾウムシ（コナラシギゾウムシ）です。
素材はヒノキ（触角は竹）、着彩はアクリル絵の具です。
サイズは約高さ9（4.5）㎝、横幅10（9.5）㎝、奥行き18㎝（カッコ内の数字はパーツを外した本体のみのサイズ）です。

皆と共に飛ばないといけないわけじゃない。
焦らず自分のタイミングで飛べばいい。
今年はたくさんどんぐりが生るだろうか。

ドングリの木には、たくさん実をつける年と、ほとんど実をつけない年があるらしい。
だから思わぬ大凶作の年に当たって全滅することを回避するため、シギゾウムシは一部数年単位で休眠する者がいるのだそうだ。
多数が選択をしないものと言うことは、きっと不利なことがあるのだと思うのだけど、万が一に備えて多数とは違う選択をする者が作られている。
何のために不利を強いられているのかという気持ちにもなるけど、めぐり合わせによってはその選択をした者だけが生き残る、またはその選択自体が多数になる場合だってあるのだろう。

This is a wood carving of an acorn weevil (Curculio quercivora).
It is made of cypress (with bamboo antennae) and colored with acrylic paint.
The size is approximately 9 (4.5) cm in height, 10 (9.5) cm in width, and 18 cm in depth (numbers in parentheses are for the body only with parts removed).

You don't have to fly along with everyone else.
There is no need to rush; you can fly at your own pace.
I wonder if there will be many acorns this year.

It is said that acorn trees have years where they bear many fruits and years where they bear almost none.
To avoid total extinction during an unexpectedly poor harvest, it seems that some acorn weevils enter a state of dormancy for several years.
The fact that the majority does not choose this path suggests there must be some disadvantage to it, yet those who make a different choice than the majority are designed to be prepared for any eventuality.
One might wonder why they are forced into such a disadvantage, but depending on the circumstances, only those who made that choice might survive, or perhaps that very choice could eventually become the majority.

輸送中の破損を防ぐため、パーツを組まずに発送します（画像二枚目をご確認ください。この状態で発送します）。到着後にパーツを組んで、木工用ボンドで接着してください。
お客様都合での返品交換は基本的に受け付けていません。
細かい傷や歪みなど、ハンドメイドならではの味わいを感じることもあるかもしれません。
デバイスや光源によっては色や雰囲気が異なって見えることもございます。
素材が木なので、吸湿と乾燥を繰り返すことで割れが発生する可能性があります。なるべく湿度の変化の少ない場所で保管することをお勧めします。特に直射日光が当たる場所やエアコンの吹き出し口付近での保管は木の劣化を早めるので避けて下さい。

To prevent damage during transit, we ship the parts unassembled (please see the second image; this is the condition in which it will be shipped). Please assemble the parts upon arrival and secure them with wood glue.
In principle, we do not accept returns or exchanges due to customer preferences.

Colors and atmosphere may appear different depending on your device or lighting.
As this item is made of wood, repeated moisture absorption and drying may cause cracking. We recommend storing it in a location with minimal humidity fluctuations. In particular, please avoid storage in direct sunlight or near air conditioning vents, as these will accelerate the deterioration of the wood.
