木彫りの鹿（ニホンジカ）です。
素材はヒノキ、着彩はアクリル絵の具です。
本体のみのサイズは約高さ13㎝、横幅6㎝、奥行き5㎝です。

道理の立たぬ無理を権力で押し通すことを「馬を鹿」という。
中国の史記で、ある権力者が鹿を馬と言って幼い皇帝に献上した時に、群臣が本当の事を答えるかどうかで忠誠心を測った話が元になっているらしい。
一説によると、だから、筋の立たぬことを押し通すことを「馬鹿」というだそうだ。

人は権力を持つと多くの人が馬鹿になる。
鹿と答えた人を殺してしまったからだろうか。

This is a wood carving of a deer (Cervus nippon).
The material is cypress, and the coloring is acrylic paint.
The size of the body only is about 13 cm (height), 6 cm (width), and 5 cm (depth).

The term "deer as horse" refers to the practice of using one's authority as a pretext to force one to do something that makes no sense.
It is said to be based on a story in China about a man with ambition for power who, when plotting a rebellion, decided to test whether his subjects would follow him or not, and presented a deer to the young emperor of the time, calling it a horse.
In Japan, the word for idiot is "馬鹿（horse deer)" and there is a theory that it is derived from the aforementioned story.

Many people become 馬鹿（horse deer) when they have power.
Is it because they killed the man who answered "deer"?

素材が木なので、吸湿と乾燥を繰り返すことで割れが発生する可能性があります。なるべく湿度の変化の少ない場所で保管することをお勧めします。特に直射日光が当たる場所やエアコンの吹き出し口付近での保管は木の劣化を早めるので避けて下さい。

We recommend storing the product in a place with as little change in humidity as possible. In particular, please avoid storing the product in direct sunlight or near air conditioner vents, as this will accelerate the deterioration of the wood.
