Season

This is a wood-carved bird (zebra finch).
It is made of Japanese cypress and painted with acrylics.
The dimensions are approximately 9.5 cm in height, 5 (4.5) cm in width, and 9.2 (7.5) cm in depth (numbers in parentheses indicate the size of the body alone with parts removed).

Plants are delicious in the parts that are actively growing.
The leaves and roots are tasty until the flowers bloom. By the time the buds and flowers are ready to eat, the leaves and roots have become tough and inedible.
Spring is the season when cruciferous vegetables bloom. The flowers of cruciferous vegetables are what we call "nanohana" (rapeseed blossoms).
If the flowers are blooming, it means that the komatsuna, bok choy, daikon, and napa cabbage were harvested too late and are no longer edible.
It may not be the outcome I had planned, but I enjoy the spring bitterness of these blossoms nonetheless.
