This is a carved wooden loach (Lefua echigonia).
The material is cypress, and the coloring is acrylic paint.
The size is about 9.5cm high, 5.5(6)cm wide, and 8cm deep. (The numbers in parentheses are the size of the main body only, without the detached parts.)
They say there is a loach under the willow tree.
We tend to remember the times when we were most engaged in something and achieving results as if that activity was an innate quality of our own—a proud, natural talent.
That is why we wait under the willows growing in parking lots, even when the wetlands where water once quietly welled up have been paved over, convinced that surely, tomorrow, a second loach will appear.
Most things are not brought about by our own power, but are created by a combination of factors, including those that are unpredictable. We call that "luck."
It is fine to explore other factors on your own and enjoy them, but I want to be careful not to mistake those results for my own power and send someone else off to catch a loach for me.

There is an idiom in Japan, "the second loach under the willow tree".
It is analogous to the way a person who picks up a loach under a willow one day looks for a second loach under the willow in the hopes of picking it up again, meaning "there is no second time for good luck".
It seems that the memories of when we were most engaged and successful at it, we remember what we were doing during that period as something we are proud of and good at, as if it were our innate nature.
So we wait under the willows growing in the parking lot, even though the wetland that was once a quiet spring of water has been turned into a parking lot, surely tomorrow a second loach will appear.
Most things are made up of a combination of factors, including unpredictable ones, rather than things that we have led by our own power. We call it luck.
It's fine to investigate other factors on your own and have fun with them, but we want to be careful not to believe the results are our own and order someone else to go get the loach.

In particular, please avoid storage in direct sunlight or near air conditioner vents, as this will accelerate the deterioration of the wood.
Some requests cannot be accommodated after purchase, so if you have any questions, please ask before buying.
Shipping is handled on weekends and holidays, so depending on when you place your order, it may take some time to ship. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
