真夏　midsummer

木彫りのタマムシ（ヤマトタマムシ）です。
素材はヒノキ、着彩はアクリル絵の具です。
サイズは約高さ10㎝、横幅6.5（4.5）㎝、奥行き6（4.3）㎝（カッコ内の数字はパーツを外した本体のみのサイズ）です。

宝石（玉）の虫と名の付く美しい虫です。
真夏の青空を背景に、あのサイズの塊が、縦になってギラギラ輝きながらゆっくり旋回している様はずいぶん神秘的で、なんだか宇宙人かUFOか、神様でも見たんじゃないかという気持ちになります。
「夏の虫は氷を笑う」で去年の夏は虫をいくつか作ったことを思い出して、真夏の虫の一つタマムシはどうかと考えてみた。
タマムシは真夏の虫だけれど、幼虫の時期に３～5年朽ち木の中で過ごす虫なので、冬は良く知っていると思う。氷を知っているかというと、朽ち木が凍っていることはよくあるから、知っているんじゃないかと思う。
何なら別の種類のタマムシでは、⁻50度でも適応したと聞くから、虫は結構氷を良く知っているのかもしれない。

This is a jewel beetle (Chrysochroa fulgidissima) carved from wood.
The material is cypress, and the coloring is acrylic paint.
The size is approximately 10 cm (height), 6.5 (4.5) cm (width), and 6 (4.3) cm (depth) (the numbers in parentheses are the size of the body only without parts).

This beautiful insect is named "jewel (jade) insect.
Against the backdrop of a midsummer blue sky, the sight of that size of a mass slowly circling in a vertical line, glistening and shining, is quite mysterious and makes you feel as if you have seen an alien, a UFO, or even a god.
I remembered that I made some insects last summer in "Summer Bugs Laugh at the Ice," and I wondered about tamamushi, one of the midsummer bugs.
Although the tamamushi is a midsummer bug, it spends 3-5 years as a larva in rotting wood, so it knows winter very well. As for whether they know about ice, I think they do, since decaying wood is often frozen.
I have heard that another species of tamamushi adapts to temperatures as low as -50 degrees Celsius, so insects may be quite familiar with ice.

輸送中の破損を防ぐため、パーツを組まずに発送します（画像二枚目をご確認ください。この状態で発送します）。到着後にパーツを組んで、木工用ボンドで接着してください。
お客様都合での返品交換は基本的に受け付けていません。
細かい傷や歪みなど、ハンドメイドならではの味わいを感じることもあるかもしれません。
デバイスや光源によっては色や雰囲気が異なって見えることもございます。
素材が木なので、吸湿と乾燥を繰り返すことで割れが発生する可能性があります。なるべく湿度の変化の少ない場所で保管することをお勧めします。特に直射日光が当たる場所やエアコンの吹き出し口付近での保管は木の劣化を早めるので避けて下さい。

In order to prevent damage during transportation, we ship the parts without assembling them (please check the second image. It will be shipped in this condition. ). Please assemble the parts upon arrival and glue them together with wood glue.
Basically, we do not accept returns or exchanges for customer reasons.
You may notice minor scratches, distortions, and other unique handmade flavors.
The color and atmosphere may look different depending on your device and light source.
Since the material is wood, repeated moisture absorption and drying may cause cracking. It is recommended to store the product in a place with as little change in humidity as possible. In particular, please avoid storing the product in direct sunlight or near air conditioner vents, as this will accelerate the deterioration of the wood.
