木彫りの貂(ホンドテン(キテン))です。
素材はヒノキ、着彩はアクリル絵の具です。
サイズは約高さ10cm、横幅5cm、奥行き5.5cmです。

「太鼓持ち」はあまりいい表現としては使われないのだけど、本来は幇間という職業を指す言葉らしい。
芸を持つ人とそれを楽しむ人が心地良く場を共有できるように、間に入って盛り上げたりコミュニケーションを助けたりする職業なのだそうだ。

気持ち一つでお互いにより良い結果になるなんて素晴らしい仕事だと思う。
似たような言葉で、人の心に働き掛けて正常な判断力を失わせることを「化かす」という。
狐七化け狸八化け貂九化けだから、貂はキツネや狸よりも化かすことに関して上手なのだろう。
それぞれ別の能力を持つ人の間に入って、皆の心に働きかけて、それぞれに協力しやすくすることができるなら、天まで届く塔だって作れるかもしれない。

"太鼓持ち（A person with a drum）" is not a nice expression in Japan, but it is said to originally refer to the profession of "幇間" .

A 幇間 is a person who entertains the host or guests at a banquet or in a tatami room, shows his or her own art, and helps geisha and maiko to enliven the atmosphere.

Thanks to the taiko drummers, they are able to perform tricks that they would not be able to do if they were not paid to do so. They also make consumption that they would not have paid for if they had not. I think it's a wonderful job, where one's heart can lead to a better result for both parties.

In a similar way, the word "化かす（transform）" is used to describe the act of working on a person's mind to make him or her lose the ability to make normal judgments.

As for the seven changes of the fox, the eight changes of the raccoon dog, and the nine changes of the marten, so marten must be better than foxes and raccoon dogs when it comes to fakushi.

If he can get between people who each have different abilities and work on everyone's mind to make it easier for them to cooperate with each other, he might even be able to build a tower that reaches to the heavens.
