木彫りのカニ（シオマネキ稚ガニ）です。
素材はヒノキ（一部竹）、着彩はアクリル絵の具です。
サイズは約高さ9.2㎝、横幅7.7㎝、奥行き5㎝です。


シオマネキは米粒サイズの稚ガニの頃は青色をしているのだそうだ。
足が10あるから、八臂の弁才天に模してみました。
弁才天は叡智や学問、音楽の神様だけど、戦神でもあって、八本の腕にそれぞれ武器を持つ姿に描かれることがあります。
だから、子どもが持っていると怖そうな物を持たせてみました。
今日も全力で戦って、幸せを招きます。

This is a wood carving of a juvenile Shionogi crab.
The material is cypress (partly bamboo), and the coloring is acrylic paint.
The size is approximately 9.2 cm (height), 7.7 cm (width), and 5 cm (depth).

Fiddler crab (Uca) is blue in color when it is a juvenile crab the size of a grain of rice.
It has 10 legs, so I tried to imitate the eight-armed Benzaiten.
Bensaiten is the god of wisdom, learning, and music, but he is also a god of war and is sometimes depicted with a weapon in each of his eight arms.
So I made him hold something that looks scary for a child to hold.
Today, I will fight with all my might and invite happiness.

素材が木なので、吸湿と乾燥を繰り返すことで割れが発生する可能性があります。なるべく湿度の変化の少ない場所で保管することをお勧めします。特に直射日光が当たる場所やエアコンの吹き出し口付近での保管は木の劣化を早めるので避けて下さい。
